Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is an insidious medical condition that generally evolves through life, with higher incidence within the community as we age. If undiagnosed and untreated it can have life impacting and life threatening consequences. Experience and research both repeatedly confirm the condition can be controlled and very significantly improved

The Diabetes Programme is a set of three courses for people who have been diagnosed with Type2 or pre-Type2 Diabetes.
It will interest people who wish to progressively improve their physiological symptoms and at the same time learn how to have greater personal influence on their overall wellbeing. This may include giving attention to some co-morbidities.

The Programme has three phases, designed in sequence so that people can progressively build knowledge, capability and activity to reduce the influence of diabetes on their life, as well as enhancing their overall wellbeing.

Course leader is David Kirkman  Colin also leads some Diabetes courses.

The course of eight sessions lasts eight weeks. By the course end clients will have experienced noticeable improvements in their wellbeing, these coming particularly in the second half of the course as activity levels increase. Other objectives are to explore nutrition and physical activity in ways that clients can start to decide where their interests, choices and enjoyment will lie when further progressing their improvements in diabetes symptoms and all round health and wellbeing. Our longstanding experience is that all clients gain much encouragement and enjoyment in sharing social contact and achievements with new friends made in beginners groups.
